Press release - Ecoride revolutionizes electric bike theft protection with IoT technology
Sweden's best-selling electric bike just got even better. The Gothenburg-based e-bike company Ecoride is taking a big step forward with connected technology and industry-leading theft protection in its new models.
Ecoride is now launching its updated models with groundbreaking technological improvements and design updates. As part of the company's effort to meet the needs of modern cyclists, several innovations are being introduced – including partially cast frames, smart IoT integration, and enhanced safety solutions.
“We have sold 150,000 electric bikes since we started in 2008, but we are not satisfied with just being the largest. We listen to our customers, and the biggest problem with e-bikes today is how prone they are to theft. People worry about losing their e-bike, which, besides being a significant investment, is often their primary mode of transport. That’s why we have developed a unique technology and insurance that will make our customers' lives on two wheels much easier,” says Ecoride’s CEO, Martin Walleräng.
New technology: IoT and theft protection that makes a difference
In a world where connected solutions are increasingly important, Ecoride has integrated IoT technology into its latest bikes. Their IoT, short for Internet of Things, is built into the frame and allows users, through a web app (39 SEK/month), to track the bike's location in real time, monitor battery status, track trips, receive service reminders, book at connected service centers – and get alerts for unauthorized handling. For added security, Ecoride also offers a unique theft insurance (139 SEK/month) that includes the IoT system. The insurance means that the customer will receive a new Ecoride within five days if the bike is stolen and a police report is filed – completely without a deductible.
Updated best-sellers: Ambassador 4 and Tripper 4
Ecoride’s electric bikes have not only been technically upgraded but also received a significant design update. The first Generation 4 models are the comfortable and easy-to-ride Ambassador 4 and the sporty Tripper 4 with an active riding position. On both models, a large part of the frame has been cast for a more seamless design, increased strength, and durability. The batteries are larger for longer range, and some models have been equipped with more powerful motors. This makes the bikes optimized both for urban environments and longer commutes along country roads and varied terrains.
“Our new models are market-leading in their price range. Our goal is for our customers to ride for a long time, and with the new design and our theft-proof technology, I am convinced they will do just that,” says Martin Walleräng.
Ecoride's vision for the future
To meet the growing market and secure the future, Ecoride is also undergoing internal changes in product development and business strategy. With a focus on innovation, a new factory in Gothenburg (2022), smarter inventory management, and sustainable materials, the company aims to lead the industry toward a more connected and eco-friendly future. These changes mark a new chapter in Ecoride’s journey, with the ambition to continue delivering the best electric bikes in their category. They are also launching an improved online store and a new visual identity to better match their upgraded offerings.
Ecoride has been a pioneer in the e-bike market since 2008. With a focus on quality, safety, and environmental friendliness, Ecoride offers sustainable transport solutions that are suitable for both urban cyclists and those who commute longer distances. The company’s bikes are developed with the latest technology to meet today’s high demands for functionality and performance.
